Gulya Isyanova, Senior Consultant

Gulya’s responsibilities lie across Gunsko’s development and communications work streams. She has a deep understanding of the technical, environmental, political and community issues associated with development, having project managed the development of and the communications for many renewable energy projects.

While working at Gunsko she has led the company’s communications and development activity across a large solar portfolio and in the past few years has developed and permitted over 70MW of solar PV. This work has included leading detailed negotiations with key stakeholders on a broad range of issues and ensuring that local communities have an input into the final project designs.

In addition to Gulya’s work in the solar sector she has also managed communications for several wind farm projects and has supported RenewableUK in its media and conference work.

Prior to joining the company Gulya worked for Partnerships for Renewables as Communications Manager. During this time she was responsible for managing project communications across a portfolio of wind farm projects on behalf of a range of clients, including the Ministry of Justice and other public sector bodies.

Gulya’s passion for renewable energy was ignited with a policy project on climate change when she worked as a think-tank research officer specialising in energy and environment policy, co-authoring the 2008 Carbon Scenarios report.

Gulya has a BA in European Social and Political Studies from UCL and an MSc in Global Politics from the LSE. She also has a Post-Graduate Certificate in Renewable Energy Development from Heriot Watt University. As well as being fully bilingual in English and Russian, Gulya also speaks some French, Spanish, Greek and German.
